Between
Jobs is a resource and support
group
for people in job transition. It is free and open to all as a ministry
of
First Presbyterian Church.
PBJ meets every Monday from 8:00
a.m.
to 9:00 a.m. at the church, 200 East Beardsley.
Coffee
and refreshments are provided. No reservation is necessary. Park on the
east
(Ruthmere) side of the church and enter the church's east door nearest
Beardsley.
What will I find
at
PBJ?You will find men and women at
various
stages of job transition:
- Some have been in transition for
months;
others are in the difficult first stages.
- Some have been in management,
some
in engineering and design, some in sales and marketing, some in human
resources,
some in other professions and jobs.
- Some have faced job transition
before;
others are facing it for the first time.
- Some are early in their careers;
others
have decades of experience
- Some are searching nation-wide;
others
are searching only in Michiana.
- Some are highly
computer-literate
and internet-savvy; others are not.
You will find coffee, doughnuts, and
friendly,
welcoming faces. Most importantly, if you are in job transition, you
will
find others who are moving through the experience and know what it's
like.
How will PBJ
benefit
me?
- In sharing your experiences, you
will
find that you are not alone;
- In networking, you may discover
new
leads and possibilities - and have opportunities to help others in
their
search;
- In discussion, you may find
useful
tips about the search process;
- In the volunteer staff you may
find
help with resumes (paper and on-line), resource lists, and other
aspects
of you job search;
- In the group you may find
encouragement
in the difficult times of transition;
Who leads PBJ?
PBJ is hosted by a team of
volunteers
from First Presbyterian Church, including people with backgrounds in
human
relations and placement. Members of the team rotate in hosting.
