“An inclusive, caring community, growing together in faith”
Journey Café Worship Begins December 15th
Journey Café Worship is a newly forming faith community within First Presbyterian Church. We are focused on building meaningful friendships with each other and with God. The new Journey Café is designed for conversation. The atmosphere will be relaxed and friendly. We’ll sit at tables with our coffee, tea, and snacks. There is time in worship to chat and maybe meet a new friend. Everyone needs a place to belong. Maybe this could be your place!
What Will Journey Café Worship Be Like?
Journey Café Worship is all about modern faith for today. The worship is designed to be creative, hopeful, relaxed, conversational, and fun. We are fascinated by Jesus, but we also want to ask questions and take our time answering them. We want to hear the stories of the Bible and listen for what God might be telling us. Doctor Sally Wicks is our teaching pastor. She has lots of experience and education but she also has a way of helping us meet God in new ways and imagine a life of faith that is possible! Journey Café Worship will be honest, relevant and real with a great worship band leading us with upbeat, contemporary music.
The New Café Space
The Journey Café is a newly renovated space in the lower level of First Presbyterian church. The large room is new from floor to ceiling, which has been raised to make everything feel more spacious. New windows were added to give light. New stone pilasters and modern wood panels are interspersed around the room creating a beautiful place for worship and café conversation. New features include the heating and air conditioning system, which will provide a healthy exchange of air. The acoustics of the room have been tempered just right for good music. The Journey Café is attractive, it’s functional, and it’s a wonderful place to connect with friends and with God.
The grand staircase leads from one of the doors near the parking lot east of the church building (across from Ruthmere Museum campus) to the Journey Café. We’ll have signs posted to direct you.
And we have an elevator, so mobility issues shouldn’t prevent you from joining us.
We’re easy to find at 200 E. Beardsley Ave., between the Main Street Bridge and Ruthmere.
Kids Need Friends too!
Journey Café Worship is a great place for kids. It’s a relaxed atmosphere with no dress codes. Children can listen to a special message each week geared for them, after the opening set of songs. A children’s corner within the café itself is designed so that kids can explore and learn during part of the worship service under the supervision of our Director of Children’s Ministry. The children’s corner is right in the worship space rather than a separate room, so parents can see their kids. But kids are always welcome to sit with their families at their tables if that’s what they’d rather do.
This year we're traveling back in time to Ancient Egypt to meet Joseph.
Pair current events with scripture and you’ve got a great faith discussion.
